Foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Republic of Armenia have the right to receive medical care and services under the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, as well as following the international treaties of the Republic of Armenia.
Armenia’s health care system features three principal components: the national or “republican” service level, which provides tertiary care hospitals and an epidemiological service; the regional service level, which provides hospitals; and the municipal and community service level, which has primary health care providers. The key components of the system are the large private hospitals.

"Ambulance" CJSC carries out the non-hospital quick medical aid to the population of Yerevan with the help of 36 brigades of 7 substations which are allocated in different districts. The "Ambulance" of Yerevan also implements the calls to the regions of RA - sanitary aviation. 36 brigades work 24 hours; the brigades include 23 - linear, 7 - small cardiologic, 10 reanimation, 1 – psychiatric.
Just as in the United States, Armenia uses 911 to handle all types of emergency situations. At this telephone number, operators do speak English, so you should not hesitate to call immediately if there is an emergency situation.
Polyclinics are essential for everyone especially when you plan a long stay in Armenia as it provides a family doctor nearest to your home. The consultation with your doctor in the polyclinics will greatly ease the process of understanding the concrete issue and in case the necessary tests aren’t offered by your Polyclinic, your doctor will refer you to a Polyclinic that does, or a hospital. Note: When you are referred elsewhere, a document will be provided stating your case and reason for the referral. You will not be able to receive free treatment without this. You can easily call and schedule an appointment in polyclinic when needed.
For registration first, you have to choose the nearest polyclinic.
After all, you have to collect all the needed documents and visit the polyclinic for the finalization of the registration process.
In case of emergency, some pharmacies work for 24 hours and you can easily use Google Search for finding the nearest one. Besides, there are also mobile pharmacy applications for more facilitated online orders - Alfa Pharm, Med911.am.

A child born in Armenia acquires the citizenship of Armenia if:
- the parents hold Armenian citizenship at the moment of the child's birth regardless of the place of the birth;
- one parent holds Armenian citizenship at the moment of the child's birth, whilst the other parent is unknown or stateless.
If at the moment of child's birth, one of the parents holds Armenian citizenship and the other parent is a foreign citizen, the determination of the child's citizenship is based on the written consent of both parents.
A child of stateless persons who were born on the territory of Armenia acquires citizenship of Armenia.
